LOTI EATS | CHAMELEON

Launched earlier this year, Chameleon is a brand new multi-experience space based within the iconic, Grade I-listed One Marylebone. Chameleon is one to add to your list of venues to watch this year, as throughout 2021 there will be an exciting number of different concepts opening within the building, including a new members club, fitness studio and large event space with a roster of live acts and art exhibitions.

We checked out the Tel Avivian restaurant located in the surroundings of the building and al fresco dined in one of their nine dressed greenhouses. The Chameleon menu incorporates all the strong and vibrant flavours that Tel Aviv is known for across its small and large plates. The meal started strong with a selection of Moroccan-style dips and a Kubbana brioche bread fresh out of the oven for dipping. We followed this by sharing three of the small dishes and two large dishes between two, which was a sufficient amount of food.

Highlights from the smalls section included the yellowtail sashimi with datterini & Iberico tomatoes & a buttermilk yuzu curd, and the aubergine carpaccio topped with raw tahini, crispy onion, goats cheese & pistachio – both light and beautifully presented. We then shared the chargrilled romanesco steak with a black lentil salad and the lamb saddle with cabbage & spring green gratin, smashed potatoes & morels, which came in generous portions and were very flavoursome.

Chameleon pride themselves on their cocktails as well as their food and have an extensive list to choose from. Our personal faves were the Mezcallica, a spicy twist on a mezcal margarita that packs a punch and the Lychee & Rose Bellini, a floral and fruity glass of fizz that looks as elegant as it tastes. Once you’ve finished dining in the greenhouse, we’d recommend ordering another round and making your way to the other side of the building to God’s Garden. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a nightcap or two whilst listening to their resident live musicians.

We’re not going to lie, dining at Chameleon will likely set you back a pretty penny or two. That being said, the fact that you’re able to wine and dine in your own private greenhouse in the heart of Marylebone makes it the ideal spot to make up for those missed lockdown celebrations and upcoming big calendar dates in your diary.
