CHAIIWALA TO OPEN IN DALSTON

It’s out with Costa Coffee in Dalston and in with Chaiiwala, the cafe franchise (or the “Indian Starbucks” as The Bolton News calls it) that’s taking over the UK and is setting up shop on Kingsland High Street. With the UK’s first Turkish stuffed mussel shop also in the ‘hood clearly it’s the place to be. As you may be able to guess from the name, Chaiiwala is all about chai, with the spiced-infused Indian-style tea coming in a range of flavours including cinnamon, saffron and mint. You can also get chai lattes, iced chai, Indian-style Karak coffee, sundaes, falooda, ice cream, and traditional desserts like kheer, gulab jamun, and gajar halwa (and the not-so-trad Nutella roti). Want something savoury? They’ve got you covered there too with desi breakfasts (that’s omelette, spicy beans or daal & roti), butter chicken and cheese roti rolls, samosas, chillil paneer, masala chips and pav bhaji. Can’t get that lot at Costa that’s for sure.

Not only does the brand already have several London outposts, including in Walthamstow, Bethnal Green, Tooting, Ealing, Knightsbridge, and East Ham, there are more coming, with Acton and Wood Green sites in the works, so soon you won’t be too far away from a Chaiiwala.
