To mark the milestone anniversary, the Japanese whisky brand is presenting 90 Days of Nikka
After travelling to Scotland in 1918 to learn the art of whisky-making, Masataka Taketsuru (often referred to as ‘the Father of Japanese whisky’) returned to his homeland to combine those traditional production techniques with Japanese precision, founding Nikka in 1934. In the 90 years since, the brand has become renowned for its exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
To celebrate nine decades at the forefront of the drinks industry, Nikka Whisky is teaming up with bars and retailers, like The Whisky Shop, The Whisky Exchange and Jeroboams, across the country to host 90 Days of Nikka. It will include a series of events, London Cocktail Week drinks and special menus running for the next three months. These are the places that whisky lovers should head to:
- TT – the east London venue will be running a special cocktail menu and hosting cinema nights to immerse you in the world of Nikka
- Shochu Lounge, ROKA – the bar will be running a dedicated Nikka cocktail menu during London Cocktail Week
- Kioku Lounge – special Nikka cocktails will be on the menu alongside pairing events focused on sake and tea. Bristol’s The Milk Thistle and NYC’s Shinji will also be in the house on 3rd and 6th October respectively, with the bartenders shaking up bespoke Nikka serves
- Aqua Kyoto – the restaurant will run a menu of dedicated Nikka serves, including a Masataka Sour, available during London Cocktail Week and until November
- Kwant – an omakase cocktail menu will be on offer in addition to a food pairing event during London Cocktail Week
- 8 at The Londoner – a dedicated Nikka menu featuring a Gimlet, a highball and an Old Fashioned, to showcase the brand’s range, will be running this autumn
- Harvey Nichols’ OXO Tower Restaurant, Bar & Brasserie – in addition to a dedicated Nikka menu for London Cocktail Week, there’ll be a whisky flight featuring Nikka From The Barrel, Nikka Tailored and Nikka Taketsuru available
And Nikka Whisky isn’t stopping there; the brand is also releasing THE NIKKA NINE DECADES, a very special 90th anniversary blend incorporating whiskies from the 1940s to the 2020s, crafted at six distilleries, to represent both Nikka’s heritage and its future. Here’s to the next 90 years.
