Mare Street is getting a new Mexican restaurant in the shape of Caldera and it’s promising a more modern and creative take on Mexican flavours. There’s definitely a Japanese influence here as the menu includes dishes like mole-miso lamb cutlets; baja fish tacos with chipotle aioli and ao-nori seaweed; chicilo ash-marinated grilled octopus with hibiscus and yuzu kohso aioli; and romanesco broccoli with ajillo yellow bean sauce, so it very may well deliver on those claims.
The drinks list appears to be more classic, with Mexican beers, softies and cocktails like Pina Coladas and Carmencitas (that’s tequila, grapefruit, cranberry, lemon and lime) all featuring. If you get down to Calder between 7th – 17th November, you can bag yourself 50% OFF food too. OLE.
