The award-winning Sandwich Sandwich is gearing up for another opening
After winning the hearts of sarnie-loving Bristolians – and the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year award in 2023 – family-run sandwich joint Sandwich Sandwich made its first move into London in the summer of 2024 with a site on Gresham Street. The opening was met with A LOT of fanfare (think 1000-person-long queues on its first day) and the sarnie spot officially went ‘TikTok viral’.
The team quickly moved on to site number two, which is also in the City and is also the biggest sandwich shop in the UK. And now Josh Kleiner, son of founder Nick Kleiner, is preparing to open the group’s third site in the capital, and this time he’s going central. The new Sandwich Sandwich will be opening on Tottenham Court Road, close to the Odeon cinema, this October, and this one will be open late too.
Writing on Instagram, Josh said, ” For full transparency, I’m absolutely bricking it, and I haven’t slept much since we’ve signed the lease because the rent is ✨ scary ✨. Moving onto one of the busiest streets in London and sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in hospitality kinda reminds me of that time I was 9 and I finally got to sit round the adults table at family gatherings — you feel really big and grown up and try to forget the fact you’ve totally blagged your way to sit there.”
Sandwich Sandwich has garnered national acclaim for their stacked sandwiches and symmetrical cut-throughs. Sarnies on the menu include the likes of the Rare Roast Beef (with overnight roasted sirloin of beef, red onion, tomato, cheddar & horseradish mayo), Southern Fried Chicken (with sliced southern fried chicken, house coleslaw, spicy Creole sauce) and Egg Mayo (with free range egg mayonnaise, crushed eggs, tomato and rocket). As well as the set sarnies, including some hot options, you also have the option to create your own from the stacked deli counter.
The Tottenham Court Road opening is the first of three big announcements that the Sandwich Sandwich team have in store, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for what’s next.
