Brad Carter Is Coming Down From Birmingham to Open a London Restaurant

One of the most persistent topics of industry gossip has finally been confirmed

Brad Carter has made such a name for himself in Birmingham with Michelin-starred Carters of Moseley that speculation about the chef opening a restaurant in the capital was always going to be rife. Now it’s gone from rumour to fact with the news that Carter, along with music industry bigwig Martin Priestnall, will be opening Undercroft inside the crypt of St George’s in Mayfair.

The 107-cover restaurant boasts a spectacular setting – the crypt boasts a vaulted ceiling and the church above it, which was built in the 1720s, was frequented by George Frideric Handel and was the place where Theodore Roosevelt got married. As well as a menu that celebrates lost dishes like wild garlic chicken toast, sea tripe and seaweed soup, barbecued duck with offal and oats, and Tamworth pork chop with creamed snails and sorrel, music is set to play a key part in Undercroft too. And if you can’t wait to get a taste of Brad’s cooking, he’s firing up the ovens for Gozney’s world tour supper club stop in London this June.

Opens summer 2024
2A Mill Street, London W1S 1FX
