Head down and feast on an array of seafood
After two decades of running successful Evening of Cheese events, Borough Market is bringing Londoners closer to the iconic institution with the brand-new Evening of Seafood. The after-hours event will celebrate the best ocean produce with live demos, trader talks, oyster shucking and exclusive dishes, plus some of the market’s renowned restaurants operating on the Market floor for the first time.
Giulia Crouch, food writer and host of the Borough Market podcast, will be leading informal discussions that’ll give you insight into the sourcing and stories behind the Market’s seafood offering. You’ll be able to see some of the skill and technique required of the seafood traders with demos including fishmongery and oyster shucking.
And there’ll be plenty for shellfish fans to get stuck into, with Furness Fish Markets, Shellseekers and Richard Haward’s Oysters all trading on the night. They’ll be joined by restaurants including Thai restaurant Kolae and Applebee’s, both taking up spots on the market floor for the evening.
Oak & Smoke will also be present, showcasing traditional Scottish smoked fish, alongside The Tinned Fish Market, selling its full array of artisanal tinned fish with small bites available to enjoy. Then you can head to Brindisa for a special menu of gildas, pintxos and boquerones-topped crisps, or swing by Tacos Padre for ceviche tostadas. You won’t be going thirsty either, with drink pairings coming from the likes of Cartwright’s Wines, Utobeer, and London Cider House.
