Co-operatively run veggie and vegan restaurant Bonnington Cafe in Vauxhall has opened a pop-up space in Nine Elms, bringing fresh and cheap food to a whole new neighbourhood. Bonnington Cafe on Thessaly is open inside the Yvonne Care Centre, with a range of local cooks creating dishes using produce from New Covent Garden Market.
The changing menu includes the likes of Sri Lankan curry with rice, pistachio pesto pasta, pea and mint soup, naked chickpea burgers with carrot and apple salad, plum and pear crumble, and lemon and thyme cake, with the most expensive plates coming in at just £5.50. Bonnington Café on Thessaly is also helping to revive the community centre by hosting cookery classes, events and activities for locals.
