Former Ormer Executive Chef Kerth Gumbs, who you may remember from 2020’s Great British Menu (we had his menu from the show at the Mayfair restaurant), will be heading up the kitchen at new cocktail bar and restaurant Boiler & Co, opening near the Tate Modern early next year. Gumbs will be cooking dishes that nod to his home island of Anguilla, including the crab Johnny cakes with scotch bonnet mayo & roe that he made on GBM; grilled ox tongue with crispy potatoes & green peppercorns; roasted scallops with coconut & curry sauce; and pistachio, stem ginger & cranberry with mascarpone.

Founders Adam Carr and Cesar Breton named Boiler & Co after caramel-coloured beverages, like beer, whiskey and coffee, that get their depth and body from the boilers they’re produced in, so we’re expecting these flavours to feature on the cocktail list.
