Connecting the Brain to the Frame with a Bodied Massage

Who else is ready for January 2024? I, for one, cannot wait

I am exhausted, drained, overworked, and over socialised – ready to hit the deck and not see another soul until next year. Sadly, that isn’t going to happen so instead I’ve been finding ways to help me keep going, like checking into Bodied for a 60-minute sesh.

The massage studio is the brainchild of Joke Adejumo, who was once a dancer and athlete but after suffering multiple injuries switched to body work and learnt the benefits of finding slowness. Its ethos is to connect the “brains to the frame”, which essentially means it works on your body to try and help you heal from the stresses of everyday life.

The studio is located in a shipping container in Hackney, hidden down an alley, so it really does feel like you’re a million miles away from the madness of London. You get to choose your playlist before the massage too, which helps you to really go all in during the session.

I had an amazing massage that touched muscles I never knew existed. That night I slept like a baby and felt like a new person the next day, which says it all. I also thought long and hard about the therapists advice as I left – try to find some time to relax before you go on holiday, otherwise you’ll get super ill when you do shut down – before booking another double lunch and dinner in the diary. It is the season after all and I’m never going to be perfect, but I will book into Bodied again that’s for sure…
