If you can’t get to the Amalfi Coast this summer, just head to Leytonstone instead. Bocca Bocca, the new restaurant from Gianluca Colini who also runs local coffee shop Unity Cafe, is bringing the Italian flavour to E11 with a menu inspired by Naples and the Amalfi coastline. Pizza will be the star of the show, with a custom-built pizza oven brought over from Campania taking centre stage in the dining room. Chef Biago (who used to head chef at the Pizza Pilgrims academy) will be slinging out the likes of Lagotto Funghi (with British mushrooms, buffalo mozzarella & truffle oil), Pesto Verde (a pesto base with fior di latte, heritage tomatoes, burrata & basil) and Piccante (with ‘nduja, spicy salami & fior di latte).
You’ll be able to bookend those pizzas with antipasti like arancini, burrata and bruschetta, and desserts like tiramisu, Nutella pizza, and Hackney Gelato ice cream. And you can pair all that with local craft beers, organic wines or, in true Amalfi style, negronis and spritzes. Salute!
