It’s that time of the year (and my life) where I am craving a change
And after seeing a picture of me 10 years ago with the exact same hair do, plus both my sisters constantly changing their hair, I thought it about time I did something radical. So, with that in mind I decided I wanted to go dark – not really that radical as I used to dye my hair black 20 years ago but, still, it had been a while…
So off I went to Blue Tit Dalston for a cut and colour. Only once I sat down with the colourist who looked at my hair, the tips almost blonde thanks to the sun and my penchant for travel, we discussed how maybe dark wasn’t the best option, especially with my upcoming three-week holiday to hotter climes.
Maybe it was better to lean into the sun’s dye and actually bring the sun-kissed strands further up to the top of my head. Plus, my blue eyes would be accentuated by a chestnut brown. But the real icing on the cake was going down this route would mean it could grow out gracefully and I wouldn’t be trapped in the cycle of having to keep dyeing my hair. A no-brainer for me, given I very rarely do anything to my hair – even less than low-maintenance, I am firmly in the camp of no-maintenance.
And just like that my hair became a warm autumnal tone with some lighter elements throughout, just enough to be noticeable to myself and those who know me but not crazy enough to stand out too much. And that’s the kind of change that suits me perfectly. So if you too are looking to switch up your colour or style, but not sure what you want then I’d recommend a trip to Blue Tit, where the consultation is just as important as the cut and colour.
