Long-haul travel is exciting, but let’s be honest — it can also be exhausting. The early starts, the long flights, the airport chaos, and then the final hurdle: actually getting to your hotel without losing your mind. There’s nothing worse than stepping off a 13-hour flight, bleary-eyed and jet-lagged, only to have to scramble for a taxi, navigate surge pricing, or attempt to explain your destination in a language you don’t speak.
This is exactly why we booked Blacklane for our latest trip through Southeast Asia. And honestly? It was one of the best travel decisions we made.
If you haven’t heard of Blacklane, it’s a luxury car service that offers pre-booked, premium rides in over 50 countries worldwide. You book in advance, lock in your fare, and when you land, your driver is already waiting — no stress, no surge pricing, no last-minute faff.
Leaving London in Style
Our trip of course started in our hometown London, heading to Heathrow in one of Blacklane’s signature rides — a blacked-out Mercedes with soft leather seats, chilled water bottles, and a toasty warm interior.
A great feature of Blacklane is that you add your flight number and it automatically tracks your flight, so if there’s an unexpected delay (which, let’s be honest, there usually is), your driver adjusts accordingly. Easy peasy.

Touchdown in Hong Kong
After 13 hours in the air, we finally landed in Hong Kong, feeling half asleep and desperate for a shower. This is exactly the moment when you do not want to be figuring out your transport.
Luckily, we didn’t have to. As soon as we collected our bags, our Blacklane driver was waiting for us, holding a sign with our name on it, ready to whisk us away. He even insisted on handling our luggage. Within minutes, we were gliding through the streets of Hong Kong in another sleek, spacious Mercedes, watching the skyline pass by.
From Hong Kong, we spent three weeks traveling through Cambodia. Cambodia was incredible — stunning temples, breathtaking islands, and the most welcoming people. But getting around was more Tuk-Tuk than Blacklane as they sadly don’t operate in Cambodia yet!
Singapore to London
After Cambodia, we had a two-day stopover in Singapore before heading home. If you’ve ever tried to hail a taxi in Singapore during one of their epic tropical downpours, you’ll know it’s basically a lost cause.
Thank goodness for our Blacklane pickup then, and when it came time to leave for the airport, our driver was already waiting, umbrella in hand, ready to shield us from the downpour.
After landing at Heathrow — jet-lagged, half-conscious, and carrying about five times more luggage than we left with — we were super happy to see our final Blacklane ride waiting for us, to whisk us back home in no time, exactly as we started.
After using Blacklane for multiple rides across three different countries, we can absolutely recommend it. Smooth, easy and luxurious – absolutely worth treating yourself on those epic adventures.
