BLACK ROCK TO BECOME A WHISKY HOTEL

Black Rock, the subterranean whisky bar in Shoreditch with an 18ft oak tree trunk bar in the middle, is expanding into London’s first ever whisky hotel. Tom Aske and Tristan Stephenson, the duo behind the bar, are taking over all four storeys above the current bar, which serves a creative cocktail menu and stocks over 250 bottles of whisky from around the world.

The casual Black Rock Tavern, already open, is one of the new floors, and has a library of 40-50 whiskies, five beers on tap and Japanese-inspired decor, including art by Ryan Gajda. A blending room, which’ll host tasting experiences and blending (duh) classes, and set of three bedrooms (two small and one suite) will open later in the summer, so if you end up overdoing it in the bar, you’ll only have to make it up a few flights of stairs.

Fancy a dram? These are our fave places to drink whisky in London.
