BIRKENSTOCK Is Celebrating 250 Years in the Shoe Game With a New Exhibition

Head to the BIRKENSTOCK STUDIO: WALK WITH ME in Shoreditch to check it out

Hitting a 250th birthday is one hell of a milestone so of course BIRKENSTOCK wasn’t going to let it pass by unmarked. To celebrate its two-and-a-half centuries of tradition in shoemaking, the brand is hosting a special exhibition and book launch at its pop-up space on Dray Walk.

The photo exhibition features content from a series of books that have been created in collaboration with some of the leading designers, photographers and bookprinters in the world, showcasing the legacy of craftsmanship and the cultural impact that BIRKENSTOCK has had over the past 250 years. Never-before-seen archive materials from THE BOOK OF BIRKENSTOCK, including early adverts and photographs, brand campaigns and fashion editorials, will be shown alongside product displays featuring one-of-a-kind shoes and designer collab creations from the likes of Rick Owens and Toogood.

You’ll also be able to see some visuals, such as Werner Bartsch work showcasing BIRKENSTOCK’s production sites and Juergen Teller images of the Golborne Road community, from OLD MILLS NEVER DIE, a limited-edition photo book set curated by Gerhard Steidl. The exhibition is FREE to attend but is only on for four days, so don’t miss it.
