BIRCH IS OPENING A SECOND HOTEL IN SOUTH LONDON

After opening in Cheshunt in 2020, the Birch brand is expanding with a second property

Birch in Cheshunt has been drawing Londoners just north of the city for creative escapes for the past couple of years and now the lifestyle brand is setting its sights on the other side of town. Birch Selsdon (taking over what was the Selsdon Park Hotel in Croydon) will be opening in the spring, with 181 bedrooms, a lido, tennis courts, a wellness space, a co-working hub, a kids club, activity studios for pottery and screen-printing, and several communal areas ranging from snugs to an orangerie, all set within 200 acres of rewilded landscapes.

The hotel will also be home to three bars and two restaurants, run by Lee Westcott, which’ll make use of foraged ingredients and seasonal produce from the on-site kitchen garden. The flagship restaurant Elodie will serve a seasonal five-course dinner tasting menu, with the member- and guest-only Vervain offering British brasserie-style food and Sunday roasts. The same ethos of working with the existing building, restoring and improving the rooms rather than gutting everything and starting from scratch, is being applied to the Selsdon site too, so we’re expecting big things from the new Birch.

Opens spring 2023
126 Addington Rd, South Croydon CR2 8YA
