BERBER & Q TO OPEN CARMEL IN QUEEN’S PARK

The team behind Berber & Q – brothers Josh & Paul Katz and Mattia Bianchi – are heading to Queen’s Park for their next restaurant Carmel. It’s going to be different from what they do at Berber & Q but the same North African and Middle Eastern influences will still be there across the all-day menu. You’ll be able to start the day with the likes of challah French toast with creme fraiche & blackberry compote and shakshuka with confit tomato & avo, with dishes like roasted cod & clams with fennel & arak butter, blackened aubergine with tehina & smacked cucumber, and harissa prawns with courgette tzatziki on at lunchtimes. Carmel will also serve up a range of Middle Eastern flatbreads with toppings like spinach & Tulum cheese and sweetcorn & goat merguez that’ll also be able to takeaway.

Come the evening, the menu expands again with additional dishes including Tamworth pork chops with preserved lemon & borlotti, Sutton Hoo chicken with curry-pickled radicchio & apricot glaze, sweet potato gnocchi with burnt aubergine & chilli butter, saffron rice pudding with blood orange ice cream, and grilled pineapple with urfa chilli syrup & pomegranate. To go with that mega sounding menu, Mattia has curated an extensive wine list featuring bottles from low-intervention producers. Whether you pull up a seat at one of the long sharing tables or out on the terrace, you’ll be in for a treat.
