You can get your hands on one of her cult knits for a fraction of the price
If you’ve always been a fan of Bella Freud’s clothes, particularly her signature jumpers and tailored pieces, but haven’t been able to stretch to the price tag – her iconic 1970 knit is £355 – then you’ll be pleased to hear that her designs are now available on the high street. Yes she’s teamed up with M&S for a collab collection filled with gems for autumn/winter.
It’s small range so she’s giving us only the hits. She’s taken inspo from school uniforms with a silk pinstripe shirt, wool-pleated skirt and V-neck cricket jumper, and there’s more masculine tailoring in the form of pinstripe trousers and blazer.
The knits are the star of the collection; there are cashmere jumpers emblazoned with slogans like ‘Divine Feminine’, ‘Honey’, ‘Blue Sky’ and ‘Nature’, coming in at the £139 mark, with some of the same slogans appearing on £15 tote bags. The merino wool beanies and oversized scarfs in light pink and acid yellow are also easy statement pieces – expect to spot a lot of these on the streets over the next few weeks.
