Alfie’s will be opening upstairs at the Belgravia pub
The Alfred Tennyson, the Belgravia pub named after the Poet Laureate and a popular local haunt for the last 15 years, is getting a little spring refresh in the form of a new dining room opening on Mon 14th April. Alfie’s, overseen by Cubitt House Chef Director Ben Tish and the pub’s Head Chef Stevie Phillip (ex-Blanchette and The Dorchester), will offer a more refined experience to the relaxed vibe of the downstairs bar area, complete with antiques, white tablecloths and candlelight.
The menu will match its traditional setting by featuring a range of classical British and French dishes, including:
- paté en croute
- dressed Cornish crab
- Hereford beef tartare served tableside
- slow-cooked lamb shoulder
- grilled monkfish with bouillabaisse
- roasted brill with Cornish mussels and smoked mackerel sauce
- pistachio soufflé
- baked Alaska with raspberries
- Pump Street chocolate and olive oil mousse
Cubitt House’s Head of Wine Charles Beaini (ex-Kerridge’s Bar & Grill at The Corinthia) is curating the wine list, which’ll include a ‘black book’ of rare bottles, so it sounds like there’ll be a chance for wine buffs to splash out. The downstairs bar will continue to serve up traditional pub grub, like pork scratchings, haggis scotch eggs and smashburgers.
Speaking about the new venture, founders Sam and Georgie Pearman said: “We are over the moon to introduce everyone to Alfie’s—an elevated dining experience with a focus on quality and seasonality. The dining room will be a calm sanctuary from the hustle and bustle downstairs, and the perfect setting to share that with our guests, whether it’s for a celebration or an everyday escape.”
