If we learnt one this year it’s that craft beer is not just for boys. We went down to Paternoster Chop House at St Pauls for a night of beer and canapés and here’s our low down for you gals on what’s hot on the beer scene right now…
First on our list is the Shoreditch Blonde; light and refreshing, a good go to beer with a bit of street cred, obvs. Next, the Hackney Gold Bitter; a good old ale. Made with chocolate malts and with a good amber colour this one it not as old man as you would imagine.
The Camden Gentleman’s Wit, weird name but our personal favourite, is brewed with lemons which gives this bad boy a bit of zing. It’s definitely worth a taste. But probably our favourite from the night was the Liefmans Cuvee Brut. A classy beer this one is brewed with black cherries, yep its fruity. It’s a good option for any ladies out there who are still thinking the beer thing is a bit manly – this one was even served in a coupe…
Keep your eye out for these next time your down at your local boozer or get yourself down to the Paternoster Chop House where they have a good selection of beers to work your way through. Heads up, get some grub whilst you’re there. The chef changes the menu daily with a good selection of fish, meat and veg dishes. We recommend the scotch quail’s egg with black pudding, the pork belly and the haddock fish and chips with tartar sauce.
