Ourfavourite scientologist, Beck Hansen releases his first single, Blue Moon of his twelfth studio album “Morning Phase” dropping on February 24th. It’s all acoustic riffs, soaring vocals with, mandolin, rolling toms and shakers with Beck’s usual assortment of bleeps and bobs. The resulting soundscape is beautifully executed and supports the melancholic lyrical sentiments, “I’m so tired of being alone, these pentane walls are all I know”
With rich and expansive harmonies, one of his best qualities has always been spacial awareness and when combined with a water-tight structure and a memorable chorus, this is classic Beck. Having confirmed that the forthcoming album is a “spiritual successor” to 2002 album, Sea Change, and also assembling a majority of the same musicians from this recording, Morning Phase promises to be another great album to add to an already exemplary back catalogue of original, experimental compositions.
