Be Transported to the Highlands at the LUSH Spa

There’s something surreal about the LUSH Spa on Oxford Street

Located in the basement of their very busy store on one of the busiest, if not the busiest, streets in London, the space really does make you feel a hundred miles away from the hustle and bustle above. In fact, the latest treatment transports you all the way to Scotland.

The Highlands is a 60-minute, full-body hot stone massage. It starts with a cup of Highlands spring water served from a vessel made of Scottish stone, and a “stone consultation” during which you select a stone carved with ancient Scottish symbols – this sets the intention for your treatment.

Once you’ve chosen, you’re led into a room for a relaxing massage using a LUSH sustainable massage bar infused with mugwort – a Scottish-grown ingredient traditionally used medicinally to settle the nervous system – alongside hot stones made from natural basalt, commonly found in river beds.

Whilst the therapist works her magic, a soundtrack of Gaelic historical folk songs plays throughout; the music and the massage techniques are supposed to mimic walking up the Scottish peaks. Just before the treatment ends cold stones are applied to the face, like the burst of fresh air you’d get after hiking to the top of a mountain. Then there’s a herbal tea to enjoy on the sofa before you leave the Scottish “Highlands” and head into the wild West End of London.
