Baraka to Open in Liverpool Street

London’s not short of incredible Turkish restaurants but there’s an interesting-sounding new one due to open in the City in January 2020. Called Baraka (which is an old wooden house where people socialise, live and eat apparently), it will feature open flame Mangal cooking and a mix of traditional and modern Turkish recipes. It’ll be located in Finsbury Square Avenue Square in a listed building and will be open from breakfast through to dinner. On the menu we can expect mezze such as hummus with lamb, pine kernels, and mixed herbs; feta pastries and marinated aubergine with mixed pepper, onion, and tomato sauce.

From that charcoal grill there’s a 24 hour marinated chicken and lamb shish; lamb kofte; lamb shoulder tagine with prunes and apricots; and home made breads. Turkish delight ice cream and baklava will be rounding things off in the desserts department.  The restaurant itself sounds warm and cosy, with terracotta tiles, vibrant blues and an open kitchen with chefs cooking over flames and coals. That’ll be just the place to be, come January.
