Whether you’re a poetry pro or a verse virgin, Bang Said the Gun has your Friday night plans locked and loaded. After a summer on tour, including a stint at the Underbelly Festival, ‘the poetry event for people who don’t like poetry’ is back and ready to jump into the ring for another bout of word wrestling.
Voted the best poetry night in the UK by The Times, this spoken-word spectacular offers poetry without pretension. Don’t go expecting earnest declamations of the classics – this event is mad, bad and dangerous to go. Having started out in a tiny Soho pub in the 90s, BSTG has hosted such literary heavyweights as ex-poet laureate Andrew Motion, as well as more contemporary stars including Kate Tempest and Jarvis Cocker.
This Friday it’s the turn of Ted Hughes Award-nominated Salena Godden, and singer-songwriter Gemma Rogers. Start your December off with a bang, and book your tickets now.
