Wrap your ears around VELVET TWO STRIPES…

Hello, so how did you guys get started and form Velvet Two Stripes?

We all met at music school a few years ago and played already there in a all-girl-group. But the music we played was very different from what we do now, very punk. I used to play drums and we had another singer. After having almost a years break, Sara, Franca and I decided to start jamming around again. And this is how we started with Velvet Two Stripes.

Talk us through your influences and how you would describe your sound?

We all have different influences. Sara for example is a big blues fan and influenced by artists such as Eric Clapton and BB King. Franca loves Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix and I adored the Ramones and The Runaways. I guess you can hear those different influences in our music as well. It is quite a bluesy sound mixed with a bit punk and because we don’t have a drummer, the beats come with a quite electronic vibe.

You guys are on many ones to watch list for 2013, do you feel any pressure to live up to the hype?

Of course we feel the pressure to live up tot he hype. If you don’t feel the pressure you don’t care enough about it anymore. But it’s not that this feeling is blocking our creativity or making us scared. We want to show those people who put us on the list and the people who read those lists that they can get what they expect and even more.

You have a few shows here in the UK and indeed London, what can we expect from your live show?

People say that when they see us on stage, they see „I-don’t-give-a-fuck-rock’n’roll“. So I guess that is what you can expect. Cool rock’n’roll with a „we-make-our-own-thing-attitude“.

Whats TVS plans for the summer?

We gonna play some festivals in Switzerland and even Damn Dead Circus Festival in UK on 25th August. And of course enjoying the sun, getting tanned and drink beer.

Any news music you been getting into recently that excites you?

Definitely BRMC’s and My Bloody Valentine’s new albums.

VELVET TWO STRIPES make their debut UK release ‘FIRE’ through their Berlin based management/label Snowhite on the 20th May.
