the beginning there was…a bit of a rumble from the bedroom of a flat up in Stamford Hill. This had been converted into a recording space, named PM2 after The Clash’s Magnificent Seven. With a mark on persistence and resilience rather than romance, our November Band of the Month are currently making waves all over town and recently smashed it at our last INSIDE/OUT club night. Meet LSA, that stands for Love Stays Alive. Pretty damn cool right!

So what are you guys about?

We always wanted to make something that was hard to ignore. As for sounds, we spent a while writing in different ways but found just using guitars, drums and our voices to be the most exciting. It’s good to limit yourself sometimes. We wanted to be something immediate, but something you can get lost in.

There are a lot of good artists around now but it seems that they get written off so quickly that it’s almost unheard of for a band to grow into something that is really unique, simply because they didn’t get the chance or were under the impression that if you don’t get recognition in the first year you quit. That’s where our name comes from, Love Stays Alive, more to do with resilient perseverance than romance.

Plans for the rest of the year?

Here Comes the Water will be out after tour in November with2:54, another of our We Need Friends nights, then back in the studio to record the EP.
You’ll be hearing from us

Tell us about Spamphlet?

We’re surrounded by exciting artists so we wanted to use our playing shows as a way of promoting what they do too. Spamphlet is a folded over A5 printout that features a different artist and writer in collaboration that we then hand out for free at all our shows.

What new bands are you listening to at the moment?

Hoatzin, Acrobat – both of whom will be playing at We Need Friends, the latest Timber Timbre record, a band called Tangerines, Childhood, Bad Breeding, The Mother Lode by Thom Yorke, the new song from Crushed Beaks, and came across Melanie de Biasio a little while ago who is mind blowing
