Athenian Restaurant Taverna Ermou Is Coming to London

Greek hospo group Ergon is bringing the restaurant over to the capital

It was announced back in 2024 that Ergon would be bringing a branch of its hotel Ergon House to Covent Garden, complete with an Agora marketplace and a rooftop restaurant. It was slated to open in 2025 but it’s now on track open at towards the end of this year. While we wait for that, we’re getting another Ergon site in London, and soon. The group is bringing its Taverna Ermou brand to the capital and opening a 120-cover restaurant in Marylebone this March, making it the first time it’s been taken outside of Greece.

The space has been conceptualised as a “living room” for the neighbourhood, with an open kitchen, raw materials and warm textures giving it that relaxed taverna feel. Culinary Director Panagiotis Xanthis has said the menu will be inspired by Greek culinary traditions and focused around what the team describes as a “fish soul”, meaning plenty of coastal flavours. There’ll be brekkie dishes on offer, like koulouri, a sesame bagel served with eggs and Greek yoghurt, before the menu transitions into dips, meze, salads, seafood, grill dishes and pastas. You can expect the likes of:

  • spanakopita dip with spinach, feta and crispy phyllo
  • Athinaiki, a classic Athenian-style fish salad
  • crab giouvetsi
  • galaktoboureko – warm phyllo filled with sweet milk cream
  • profiteroles with dark chocolate, olive oil and sea salt

There’s been a steady wave of Greek openings in London over the past couple of years and with this, and another Athenian taverna from the Mazi team coming soon, it looks like it could be cresting again?
