After confirming earlier in summer that Darjeeling Express wouldn’t be re-opening in Kingly Court post-lockdown, Asma Khan is relocating the restaurant to Covent Garden this autumn. Taking over the old Carluccio’s site on Garrick Street, the new 120-cover Darjeeling Express will operate as both a restaurant and deli, with the restaurant running dinner service Wednesdays – Sundays with the choice of three tasting menus and the deli serving a daily menu inspired by childhood train journeys.
As well as having space for more diners, the new site will be used as an incubator to train more female chefs, managers and restaurant owners, something that Khan has been passionate about since she started the business.
