artisan open in notting hill

The team behind Japanese restaurant UKAI in Notting Hill has opened another restaurant, Artisan, in the hood but this one’s Italian rather than Asian – as you’ll be able to work out pretty quickly thanks to the olive tree right in the middle of the place.

The food at Artisan is inspired by Alessandro Verros (UKAI Executive Chef) and Roberto Vezzani’s (Artisan Head Chef) Italian roots but with a modern twist, namely introducing other flavours from across the globe. That means you can find dishes like grilled octopus with artichoke salad, squid ink hummus and tarragon chimichurri; pancetta-wrapped hake with confit tomatoes and basil dressing; and yuzu mustard baby chicken with roasted vegetable panzanella on the menu.

They haven’t forgotten the classics though, with fresh pasta being made in-house for the likes of chittarra spaghetti with clams and a wood-fired pizza selection including diavola, tiger prawns with pesto and sundried tomato, and salsiccia and friarielli broccoli. The drinks list follows this same formula, with cocktails like the Italian Fizz (olive oil washed gin, bay leaf syrup, elderflower and prosecco) and The Noble Artisan (sherry, bergamot-infused Cocchi Americano and homemade chamomile syrup) and a wine list with plenty of Italian bottles.
