ARMA TO BRING SHAWARMA TO SOHO

ARMA, a new grab and go concept centred around Middle Eastern shawarma, is opening up on Dean Street in Soho, taking over the old Oliver Maki site. We’ve had plenty of posh kebabs recently with the likes of Kebab Queen and Berenjak, but ARMA looks like it’s going to sit nicely between these upmarket joints and the, ahem, ‘lower end’ of the kebab scale.

With bright modern interiors painted blue and orange, ARMA is going to have a counter on the ground floor where you can choose from the likes of beef and chicken shawarma with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, pickled red onions, pickled cucumbers, fresh herb dressing and garlic sauce, wrapped in a traditional flatbread. Alternatively, each will be available as a salad bowl, served with tabbouleh, tahini dressing, and sumac. The falafel will be made fresh in house every day and will also be available wrapped in traditional flatbread or as a salad bowl with tabbouleh, pickled turnips, fresh parsley, mint, and garlic sauce.

Sides will include hummus, tabbouleh, spinach salad, fries loaded with chicken or beef with chilli sauce, and ARMA’s own dips – tahini, fresh herb, garlic, and chilli. For dessert there will a traditional Middle Eastern date cake. Although it’s primarily a grab and go kind of place there are plenty of seats in the upstairs room for people that want to eat in.
