Apple To Open Music Venue In Battersea Power Station

Computers, phones, tablets, streaming and a concert hall?

London is full of iconic music venues, and now none other than Apple is throwing its name into the ring. The tech giant is opening its first ever live music venue underneath its headquarters in Battersea Power Station. The creatively-named Apple Music Hall will have a capacity of just 600, designed for intimate gigs to bring fans closer to their favourite artists. But the tech specs haven’t been skimped on. There’s a large 38-foot-wide stage and a 48-speak spatial sound system, while behind the stage, there’s a full production facility with two dedicated recording studios.

And we have to say, the design looks pretty cool too. The interiors take inspo from the Power Station itself, incorporating brickwork arches and bronze balconies. There’s also a giant glass wall which gives a panoramic view of the concourse and the river beyond.

Music has always been an integral part of Apple’s work, from the iPod to iTunes to Apple Music, so this kind of feels like a natural step for them. It also seems like Apple playing into the growing appetite for more offline culture. We’ve written a lot about Gen Z taking things from URL to IRL, so it’s nice that big brands are now becoming part of that too.

No gigs have been announced yet, but watch this space for what’s to come.
