Another Greek Spot Is Coming, This Time From a Hyped East London Wine Bar

Side Piece will be setting up shop next to the wine bar in Dalston

After knocking it out of the park with Tempo, the Bethnal Green restaurant opened in partnership with chef Eric Wan, the Dan’s team is onto its next food concept, and it sounds like another winner. Side Piece, which’ll be opening in the smaller space that Dan’s has on Tottenham Road, will be a relaxed Greek spot inspired by the cafe/bar/shop hybrids found on the islands, particularly Tinos, and Pelion and Volos on the mainland.

The offering at Side Piece will be simple and accessible, working both as a place you can drop by for a bite and a glass on the way home and a long weekend lunch. The wine list will be Greek and Greek-leaning (like a chilled red made in Australia by a second-generation Greek-Australian producer) and the food menu will be changing weekly. The opening selection includes dishes like:

  • marinated olives
  • fried sardines with smoked eel aioli
  • moussaka
  • beef stifado
  • spanakopita courgette flowers
  • Greek salad
  • lemonopita

At just 16 seats, Side Piece will be cosy (and walk-in only) but the team will be making use of the terrace as the weather warms up. And if you don’t manage to bag a seat there, it’ll also be taking over the snack offering in Dan’s. London’s Greek wave continues and we’re here for it.
