AngloThai Is Opening in Marylebone This Autumn

Over 18 months since we first reported the news that an AngloThai restaurant was coming, we finally know where and when

Over the past couple of years AngloThai, the British-Thai kitchen concept run by husband and wife team John and Desiree Chantarasak, has been popping up across town (including residencies at Newcomer Wines and Outcrop) and releasing very popular meal kits (including a banquet box with Irish beef and sai ua hot dog kits), and now they’re going perm with their very own restaurant in Marylebone this November.

The opening is backed by restaurant group MJMK, who are also behind Casa Do Frango and KOL, and will feature a 50-cover main dining room, with interiors that reflect Thailand’s contemporary design movement, and private dining space Baan following later in the year.

John’s menu will reflect both his British and Thai heritage and make use of seasonal ingredients from across the British Isles, including black-faced Hebridean Sheep from Ryall Farm in Dorset (owned by Desiree’s family), line-caught fish, Carlingford oysters, British caviar and foraged foods, as well as British-grown Asian produce like young ginger root, makrut citrus, chillies and holy basil.

There’ll be both an a la carte menu with sharing dishes and a daily changing chef selection menu to choose from, and you can expect the likes of:

  • red flesh plum with candied beetroot & Suffolk rapeseed
  • Brixham crab with Exmoor caviar & coconut ash cracker
  • Lion’s Mane mushroom & sunflower seed satay
  • Ryall Farm hogget massaman & black fig
  • monkfish jungle curry & holy basil
  • wholegrain farro, long peppercorn & cured beef
  • carrot & sea buckthorn parfait
  • tigernut ganache with cherry & hibiscus

Desiree will be overseeing the wine list, which’ll feature bottles from European producers made using traditional methods. This is sure to be one of the openings of 2024, so stay tuned for even more details.
