Martin Morales, the man behind Andina, Casita Andina, and Ceviche is opening not one, but two new spots right next door to each other in Notting Hill this May. Andina Panaderia will be London’s first Peruvian bakery, specialising in slow ferment baking. As well as traditional treats like Andean black mint bread, sweet potato sourdough, pastel de lúcuma and chicha morada muffins, the bakery will also serve Peruvian coffee, salads and brunch dishes. You’ll even be able to pick up some Peruvian pottery which will be showcased in the space.
Inspired by family-run roadside restaurants common in Peru, Andina Picanteria will dish up a mix of small plates – an ancient take on ceviche called sivinche, and purple corn tamal with choclo corn succotash – and larger dishes like braised adobo pork leg, olluco potato locro stew, and Hereford sirloin with red pepper and Amarillo chilli escabeche. Like Martin’s other restaurants in town, the Picanteria will be decked out in vibrant colours, rustic wood and contemporary art, so you’ll really feel like you’re in South America and not West London.
