Be transported back to the beginning of time with this show at the Swiss Church
London is full of immersive experiences that transport you just about anywhere, from inside the works of master painters to the other side of the world, but there’s one that’s really taking you on an epic journey. Genesis, running at the Swiss Church in Covent Garden, is turning the clock right back to creation and telling the story of the start of the universe through projections perfectly sized to fill the walls and domed ceiling of the 18th-century church.
The 30-minute experience kicks off with ‘First Day – Light’, where the light of day is introduced to break up the darkness of night, before bringing in the sky to separate the water on ‘Second Day – Sky’. The ‘Third Day’ is split into two sections, the first features the sea and the land, and that’s followed by a bright burst of plants, trees and flowers. The show then ends with ‘Meditation’, with projections of glowing lanterns and candles to symbolise the soul.
There are chairs and bean bags in the space so you can grab a spot, kick back and let the lights wash over you before you return to the bustle of the city outside.
