AN ILLUMINATED FLOTILLA OF BOATS WILL BE SAILING DOWN THE THAMES AT NIGHT

The Thames is getting LIT this September as a flotilla of 150 boats, including the Gloriana, The Queen’s Rowbarge, all decked out with twinkling white lights, will make their way down the river from Chelsea all the way to Tower Bridge. The floating spectacle, called Reflections, will also see the bridges that make up the Illuminated River project, lit up in a special colour and light show as the boats travel past.

As well as forming part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year celebrations, the event will be raising money for RNLI and the construction of a new lifeboat station at Waterloo Bridge. If you like the sound of Reflections, you’ll wanna check out the rest of the Totally Thames Festival, the city’s annual celebration of the river – this year’s edition also includes a 330 boat river race, a host of archaeology walks, a classic boat festival at St Kat’s Docks and much more.
