ALTER TO OPEN IN LEMAN LOCKE

After a successful residency at Counter Culture in Clapham (sadly no longer with us) earlier this year, Andy Hogben and Alter are heading east and setting up at Shaman inside the Leman Locke aparthotel for a six-month stint. Andy, who’s worked at the likes of Dabbous and Som Saa, founded Alter after he turned vegan and found himself frustrated by the vegan food scene in the UK. His aim is to create food that connects with the wider perspective of veganism by drawing inspiration from global street cultures rather than working with meat and dairy substitutes.

You can expect dishes like betel leaf with salted watermelon & toasted coconut, izakaya pickles with 1:1:1 relish, shitake & fermented yellowbean wontons with kelp soy, sweetcorn satay chaat with crispy roti & caramelised ‘whey’, ‘ants climbing a tree’ noodles and kesar mango with sweet sticky rice on the menu. All of that will be served alongside low intervention wines, local craft beers and cocktails with an East Asian twist. Sign up on the website to be the first to hear when bookings open.

Opens end October 2020
