ALL-DAY DINING SPOT BOUDICA TO OPEN IN BATTERSEA

Boudica, a casual fine dining restaurant, is opening at the end of April just behind the Power Station

Following the procession of new restaurants that have launched in the neighbourhood after the reopening of Battersea Power Station, Boudica will be the latest to join the Battersea restaurant scene. Borrowing its name from the ancient British queen, Boudica’s website claims that it will pay homage to its Celtic origins with a menu that “offers classic comfort foods but with a contemporary and international twist”.

The kitchen will be headed up by chef Luigi Vairo, who’s previously worked alongside the likes of Michele Nargi, Marcus Eaves, Frederik Forster, Phil Kearsey and Richard Corrigan. Vairo’s influences include Middle Eastern, North African, Iberian and Italian cuisines. Expect an eclectic mix of dishes, featuring:

  • Sea bass ceviche, tiger milk, plantain chips
  • Orkney scallops, celeriac puree, white asparagus, pickled walnut gel, vin jaune
  • Homemade pumpkin amaretto and mascarpone raviolo, amaretto crumble
  • Marinated Welsh lamb cutlets, baba ghanoush
  • 28 days dry aged rib eye steak 220g, pommes Anna, wild garlic puree
  • Tiramisu
  • Pavlova

The interiors will be plant and light-filled, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, and there’ll be a heated terrace for drinking and dining. The cocktail bar will serve up classics alongside some signatures such as ‘Blood and Fate’ (mezcal, Campari, hibiscus syrup, lime juice, blood orange juice & agave), ‘Boudica’s Fury’ (bourbon, Drambuie, Talisker, Ancho Reyes, lemon juice, ginger syrup & apple juice/sparkling apple) and ‘Wicked Skies’ (bourbon, chestnut liquor, Licor 43, Lillet Blanc, chocolate bitters). It also sounds like Boudica will be storming ‘clubstaurant’ territory with its programme of in-house DJs and live music.

Opens Fri 28th April 2023
