IN THE SEAMS
RELEASED: 3RD NOVEMBER 2014, SURFACE AREA
Groove Armada’s former First Lady Rebecca Jones, having toured with them as their lead singer in 2010 before deciding to fly solo, is getting ready to release her sophomore album in collaboration with ex Coral’s lead guitarist, now producer, Bill Ryder Jones…who will also join her on a co-headline nationwide tour in December this year.
Rebecca, aka Saint Saviour, has taken a distinct shift from the sound of her debut album ‘Union’, a predominantly pop orientated project, spun 360 degrees and taken an ambient turn, resulting in a stunning, expertly crafted impressive piece of work.
Simplicity is the key to the beauty of ‘In The Seams’, and as you move effortlessly from track to track, you can pick out Jones’ sweet northern accent layered over Ryder Jones’ natural guitar chords. Her soft vocals, sounding not too dissimilar to Kate Bush or The Cranberries’ Delores, accompanied by stunning background strings, take you on a chilled musical journey. Both the Jones’s make a remarkable duo, and having described their first meeting as an ‘epiphany’, I have a feeling that their musical journey may have only just begun.
