LIFE

RELEASED 24TH SEPTEMBER

“Anthemic indie.” I know, you’re grimacing, thinking of U2 and The Temper Trap (or The Chakras or Giant Steps). But it doesn’t have to be that way. Cave Painting do dreamy, atmospheric songs and aren’t afraid of the odd big chorus, but without ever pumping their fists in the air and getting the crowd to sing it back at them. They straddle things in a little more introspective and personal way than a rock act, but without ever becoming so limp wristed as to resemble The xx. The album’s a bit font loaded with ‘Leaf’, ‘Handle’ and ‘Gator’, so that by the time you get to ‘Rio’ it’s all a little familiar, but there’s plenty here to track the angst scenes in teen dramas for the next couple of years. And no, we have no idea what ‘Votive Life’ means either…

This is the video for Cave Painting’s new single ‘So Calm’.
