Cue Point is finally putting down roots
After a decade of pop-ups, festivals, residencies Mursal Saiq and Joshua Moroney are opening their first permanent site this spring. Launching on 22nd April in partnership with the Garden Bar in West London, Garden Bar Grill and Smokehouse by Cue Point London will be the brand’s flagship home, landing just in time for Cue Point’s 10th birthday.
If you’ve been following them for a while, you’ll know Cue Point has always done things its own way. Mursal, who was born in Afghanistan before moving to Mumbai and then London, and Josh, a British-Guyanese chef and former pitmaster at Smokestak, built the concept around low-and-slow barbecue, Afghan flavours and a genuinely inclusive approach. That means halal, vegan and gluten-free options all built into the offering, rather than tacked on as an afterthought.
The new site sounds like the fullest expression of that yet. There’ll be a large-format American drum smoker in the pub’s 200-cover garden, with the menu mixing Texas-style BBQ, live-fire cooking, and Afghan spices, chutneys, pickles and sauces. The menu is set to feature:
- oak-smoked wagyu brisket steak with Texas naan and saffron butter
- live-fire chicken korma
- oak-smoked lamb shank with Kabuli pilau
- black lime and pepper chicken bites
- live-fire aubergine curry with dill yoghurt
There’ll also be blackboard specials, puddings like sticky toffee pudding with kulfi, and a Texan-Afghan Sunday roast with smoked meats, saffron triple-cooked potatoes and house gravy.
It’s not just about the food either. Cue Point’s social impact arm, Cue Point Kitchen, will continue its work supporting refugees and immigrants into hospitality, while the new permanent base will also make room for events including Kabul Nights, guest chef takeovers, skewer sessions and more. Basically, West London is about to get a lot smokier.
