The owner-chef of Sushi Kanesaka in Tokyo is set to launch his first restaurant outside of the Asia Pacific here in London

Shinji Kanesaka is a certified sushi master, with his restaurant in Tokyo’s Ginza district, Sushi Kanesaka, proudly upholding a two-Michelin star status for five years now. And, for the first time, Kanesaka is bringing his talents to the UK with an outpost of his now legendary sushi spot about to open at 45 Park Lane.

The new omakase concept is already in its soft launch phase but is scheduled to officially open at the start of July. The intimate restaurant will seat just nine at the counter and four in a separate dining room, each with a private sushi chef. Kanesaka specialises in crafting sushi in the Edomae style, an ultra-traditional method by which the fish is cured to bring out those umami notes and boost overall flavour, which will be reflected in the offering at the Mayfair site.

As you can expect, the menu will be extravagant with a price tag to match. The set menus will start at £400, with each option featuring up to 20 courses, and there’ll also be the choice to have a sake pairing, costing between £150 and £200. Everything about this place screams luxury and, if you’ve got the dough to spare, dinner at Sushi Kanesaka sounds like it would be a pretty remarkable experience.
