London’s Design Museum has revealed its 2025 programme, including exhibitions on Wes Anderson and the notorious Blitz club
They’ve launched a major Barbie retrospective and have a hotly anticipated Tim Burton exhibition on the way, but the Design Museum’s hard hitters aren’t stopping there. Today, they announced their 2025 programme which is set to feature shows on Wes Anderson and the Blitz Kids, as well as displays that explore the impact of swimming on fashion and address the issues of anthropocentric design.
Launching in November 2025, Wes Anderson will look back over the legendary director’s work from his very first experiments in the 90s up to his most recent films. Expect to see a curated collection of original props and costumes (including items from his personal collection), as well as behind-the-scenes insights that give an inside look at the world of Wes Anderson.
But before then, in September, Blitz: the club that shaped the 80s will revisit the iconic Blitz club which was a launchpad for the careers of its ‘Blitz Kids’, who included Boy George, Sade and Princess Julia, among others. The club has become famous for its impact on 80s music, fashion and design, and the exhibition will explore that influence through garments, drawings, photographs and film (curated in collaboration with some of the leading Blitz Kids) – much of which has never been on public display before.
Earlier in the year, Splash! A Century of Swimming and Style will examine design’s role in our relationship with swimming over the past 100 years, while More Than Human will look at how alternative design approaches could help the planet thrive. Plus there’ll be a line-up of free displays across multiple design disciplines.
