Shropshirewasn’t really known for its bling until the The Caravan aptly named Marilyn came along. With more chrome than a 1950’s Chevy and an interior of glass, mirrors and ivory coloured leather upholstery, this is how to holiday a’la Gypsy wedding style! Made in Britain in the 1950’s to 1970’s these caravans were high quality with a price tag to match and now you can take advantage of these mean machines and book yourself a holiday.
Guests who do book the lovely lady herself, Marilyn will also have access to the grounds of the estate where the caravan sits and free use of the lake and a rowing boat – the perfect spot to crack open some local fizzy wine. Talk about glamping!
Beyond the bling Marilyn holds a year round wood burning stove that keeps you nice and toasty, and at night the twinkling interior lights reflecting on glass and mirrors to create a magical atmosphere. Outside of the van you’ll find the Shropshire Marshes, near the medieval town of Shrewsbury with it’s architecture, Museums, Castle and Theatre, a little further afield are Church Stretton and the Stiperstone Hills. Shropshire is a great county for walking and cycling. Market towns such as Oswestry hold regular farmers markets but if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, carriage rides to the local pub and back can also be arranged – imagine your face as the landlord announces “Madam your carriage awaits!”
If Marilyn doesn’t float your boat Quality Unearthed also offers a selection of unusual, unique abodes; from glamping sites, to off-grid homes around the UK. If you fancy a break with a difference it’s definitely worth checking these guys out!
Marilyn will cost you £253 for a short break or £390 for week.
