ILLUMINATED ANIMATRONIC SWANS ARE COMING TO THE THAMES AS PART OF GREENWICH+DOCKLANDS FEST

London’s leading free festival of outdoor theatre and performance art, Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, is back for 2023

Last year there was a tidal wave of multi-coloured foam that cascaded through Greenwich Peninsula, this year a gaggle of glowing, colour-changing robotic swans will be floating on the Thames after dark. Yes Greenwich+Docklands Festival is back with another impressive installation in the form of Cygnus from Denis Bivour and Florian Giefer, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the programme.

The other events announced so far include immersive theatre piece The Architect, set on a London bus that travels around South East London that looks at Black experiences following the murder of Stephen Lawrence; West African circus performance Ancient Futures, with a soundtrack from Afrikan Boy; Bouncing Narratives, an immersive dance piece in a shipping container with a trampoline roof; aerial performance The Air Between Us. There’s plenty more to come, so watch this space.
