The NYC-style pizzeria is headed for Notting Hill
When we asked the question ‘how many pizza places can London take?‘ earlier this summer, it looked like east London was becoming the locus of the city’s pizza boom, with Paulie’s and Lauretta’s opening within about a week of each other, and restaurants from ACE Pizza and Bad Boy Pizza Society slated to arrive within days of each other at the end of the month. But now things are heating up over west too – Slayer Pizza is coming to Notting Hill on 1st September and it’s been confirmed that Alley Cats is opening a third site in the neighbourhood too.
A third restaurant in two years (the others are in Chelsea and Marylebone) is rapid growth for the Alley Cats concept, which has become popular for its Italian-American-inspired interiors; dishes like garlic & cheese bites, pork & beef meatballs in tomato sauce, and tiramisu; and thin and crispy NY-style pies. Head Chef Francesco Macri uses southern Italian ingredients for his pizzas, which include:
- smoked pepperoni, aged mozzarella, tomato sauce, jalapeno and honey
- fennel sausage, tomato sauce, aged mozzarella, pancetta, red onion and pecorino flakes
- creamy vodka tomato sauce, aged mozzarella and buffalo mozzarella
- wild mushrooms, aged mozzarella, taleggio, red onion jam and fried sage
We don’t have a menu for the Notting Hill site yet but we don’t expect it to differ too much from the existing offering. If it ain’t broke….
