A Slice of History on Show at Wimbledon

The Championships’ Most Iconic Flavours Get Their Own Spotlight

Wimbledon has always had its traditions. Grass courts trimmed to perfection. The white-clothing rule. Strawberries and cream under a (hopefully!) blue sky. Now the All England Club is opening the doors to a new exhibition that digs into the stories behind those classics and the food and drink culture that’s grown around The Championships for nearly 150 years.

A Slice of History: Food and Drink at Wimbledon has launched at the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, running from 19 November 2025 through to autumn 2026, and the exhibition is much more than a stroll past dusty archives. This is fully immersive – think flavours, sounds and even the scents that have shaped the event, from homemade picnics and Pimm’s on The Hill to the polished hospitality offer serving caviar blinis and perfectly chilled Lanson in the Debentures and Members’ enclosures.

And with more than 100 food and drink-related items on display as part of the exhibition, many of which have never been on display previously, you’ll get the opportunity to discover a completely new side of Wimbledon.

You’ll get a peek at what the world’s best players eat (on and off court), the brand partnerships that built Wimbledon’s visual identity, and the nostalgic items that have lodged themselves in British summer culture. We’re talking retro ads, kits worn by the greats – like Wimbledon Champions Andy Murray and Serena Williams  – plus curios like a 1968 bottle of Pimm’s and the original Coca-Cola dispenser that once perched on the umpire’s chair.

There’s a future-facing side too. Maria Sharapova’s ‘Mimesis’ dress, spun from recycled Evian bottles is on loan as part of the exhibition, proving that the stories behind Wimbledon’s food and drink go far beyond what’s plated up.

And yes, the displays are interactive. Sniff the strawberries, flick through old menus, scan items linked to tennis legends and wander through a playful re-creation of those Hill-side picnics. The exhibition is built for all ages, whether you’re a year-round tennis fanatic or an armchair expert watching the BBC coverage during the Wimbledon fortnight.

Tickets are on sale now…Game, set, snack.
