The former squat rave spot is being transformed into an events space and creative hub
West London’s newest club Gallery is getting ready to open its doors, another spot in east London has recently been granted a 24-hour licence, and now a new venue is coming to Shoreditch – is London’s nightlife on the up again? There’s still a long way to go before the capital becomes a truly thriving nighttime city but news of a venue opening is worth celebrating, and this one sounds pretty promising.
Unlocked Shoreditch, a warehouse space on Curtain Road that used to play host to illegal raves and that has sat empty for a decade, is being turned into an ‘experience-led, inclusive venue’. Though it’s officially opening this autumn, we’ll be getting a taster of what it’ll be like with the Unlocked ‘Origins’ series running this spring. Kicking off on Sat 29th March and running through to mid-April, the programme includes shows from Aussie DJ Tobaihs; Nooriyah with Mahnoor and DJ Shadobeni; a Homegrown show from Jyoty; and Manchester’s Mason Collective.
With a bunch of hot new restaurants moving in and now a new venue on the way, Shoreditch really is back.
