Mistress, a restaurant and after-hours lounge, will open in February 2024
A lot of restaurants are set to open in London next year (especially in postcodes with ‘W’ in the first half, it seems) and another has just been announced. This one’s called Mistress – a name chosen because of the restaurant’s proximity to the tunnels that were used to smuggle sex workers to and from White’s gentlemen’s club – and is billing itself as “luxury dining for discerning hedonists”.
The full menu hasn’t been confirmed just yet, but the sneak peek reads like a recipe (though a few ingredients short) for Black Books’ ‘luxury pie’: lobster rolls, oysters, fillet mignon, caviar, truffle and French fries feature. Drinks-wise, expect classic cocktails and a roaming Champagne trolley.
The subterranean Mayfair restaurant will double as a members’ club from 11pm onwards, with a late-night programme of DJs playing funk, soul and disco.
