A New Irish Pub Is Opening in Shoreditch in Time for St Patrick’s Day

Nancy Spains, which bills itself as a “true Irish pub”, will open on Curtain Road on Fri 15th March 2024

A new pub that’s all about celebrating Irish heritage, Nancy Spains, is coming to Shoreditch this March – just in time for St Patrick’s Day. The concept comes from Kerry-based duo Peter and Nicholas O’Halloran, who were brought up in the industry and have long been planning to bring a taste of Irish hospitality to London, and will centre around an offering of stout, whiskey, cocktails and a series of guest chef residencies.

Nancy Spains will have Irish favourite Murphy’s stout on draught, as well as their own lager which is described as “crisp, clean and floral”. There’ll be a range of whiskey available, with brands including Jamesons, West Cork Whistler, Connemara and Dingle Whiskey, among others. Plus, a cocktail menu inspired by Irish culture and some of the country’s most recognisable writers has also been developed for the pub. Expect drinks such as the ‘Barry’s Pornstar’ (which adds Barry’s Tea to the traditional Pornstar Martini) and the ‘Mexican Bramble’ (made with chilli-infused tequila and Murphy’s stout cordial).

Food-wise, expect Taytos and other classic Irish snacks, as well as a series of residencies that’ll see different guest chefs take over the kitchen downstairs.

P.S. There was a Nancy Spains in Cork City underneath which four centuries-old skeletons were found, but there’s no relation.
